The city was founded 640 years ago. Its
name can be traced to the word "wine" - in the past, the city
was very well known for its wine cellars. Vinnitsa stands on the banks
of the river Yuzhnyi (Southern) Boog, and is located 260 km south-west
of Kiev, Ukraine's capital. It is famous for its many Orthodox, Catholic
and Protestant churches and cathedrals, as well as many other places which
are worth visiting.

Vinnitsa has an airport which, unfortunately does
not accept international flights. Where visitors usually arrive is Kiev's
airport "Boryspil". Trains and buses connection is not as
